A full-page sketch shows the Chicago wreckers rushing to rescue the ship "Secession" in the breakers. Five lightning bolts are striking from the black clouds each with Lincoln, Grant, Sherman, Farragut or Sheridan written in them. From a nearby lighthouse is a beacon of light with "`Hail, Holy light' -Alex H. Stevens" written in it. An up-side-down flag waves over the lighthouse with "four years of failure" written on it.
